Kundan Jewelry
Kundan jewelry is one of the oldest forms of jewelry making technique in India.
Kundan is a traditional form of Indian gemstone jewellery. It is a gem set with gold foil between the stones and its mount, usually for elaborate necklaces.
Kundan jewelry making :
Kundan jewellery is created by setting carefully shaped, cut and polished multicoloured gemstones into an exquisitely designed pure gold or faux metal base.
Making of Kundan jewelry follows a very intricate process. It is a long process with each stage handled by a separate, skilled worker.
It starts with beating of gold in a very thin sheet. This acts as the base for the jewelry.
This sheet is then filled with lac, or laakh. Lac is a by-product of tree sap and known to be a natural resin. It is in this lac that the stones or gems are set with a help of hot coal.
In order to give the stones a strong grip on the metal, 24 carat melted gold is poured into the sides. This 24 carat gold is what is known as Kundan Parallel to this process of setting the stones is the process of making the frame of the jewelry. Frame of the jewelry refers to whether it is being made as earrings, necklaces, pendants etc. Once the frame is made, it is then welded to the base with the help of gold.
At last jewelry piece is cleaned and washed to remove dark spots due to welding.

Interesting Scientific Basis of Wearing GemStones
GemStone is a precious stone, especially one cut, polished, and used in a piece of jewellery.
Every gemstone has the power to draw energy from its respective planet and channelise it into the wearer's body.
Each gem of the Navratna category represents a planet of the solar system. When we wish to enjoy the favourable effects of a particular planet, we wear the stone representing that planet on our fingers, neck or arm. It is also important here to know that stone of a particular planet must be worn on the finger that represents it.
In astrology, every finger is believed to represent a particular planet viz. Thumb represents Venus, index finger represents Jupiter, middle finger represents Saturn, ring finger represents the sun and little finger represents Mercury.
Suppose a particular planet is not strong enough in the horoscope of a person the person is suggested to wear the stone that represents that planet.
Effects of the stones can be compared with the way modern medicine employs to remove the deficiency of vitamins in body.
